Long ago, there was a kingdom of Guangyan Miaolue, where King Jingde and Queen Baoyue Guang were elderly and childless. In the eighth year of the Dazhong Xiangfu (1008-1016) of Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty (1015), the title of the Jade Emperor God was honored as "Supreme Emperor Kai Tian Zhi Fu Yu Li Han Zhen Ti Dao Yu Huang Da Tian Di". In the sixth year of the Zhenghe reign of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty (1111-1117) (1116), he also honored the Jade Emperor with the title of "Emperor Tai Kai Tian Zhi Fu Yu Li Han Zhen Ti Dao Hao Tian Jade Emperor God".

Taoism believes that the Jade Emperor is the king of the gods and holds a high position in the Taoist hierarchy. On the 25th day of the twelfth lunar month every year, the Jade Emperor will descend to the lower world and personally inspect and inspect the situation of all parties. Reward and punish evil based on the good, evil, good, and bad aspects of the common customs of sentient beings. On this day, many people set up incense tables to offer offerings to receive the Jade Emperor. This activity is also known as' Zhaitan '. The ninth day of the first lunar month is the Jade Emperor Christmas, commonly known as the "Jade Emperor Festival". It is rumored that various immortals in the sky and underground will celebrate this day in Chongqing. On the afternoon of his birthday, the Jade Emperor returned to the Heavenly Palace and held a grand celebration ceremony in the Taoist temples.
